The Gospel Plowboys
About
The Gospel Plowboys are a bluegrass gospel band devoted to sharing the message of Jesus Christ. The members perform in white shirts, red ties and denim bib overalls, a nod both to the flag and to the 30’s, when bluegrass style music was first catching on. Every member must be a born again Christian who attends church and keeps a neat appearance; the group works hard on musicianship and three and four part harmonies, but puts faith ahead of playing. Its motto is “Plowing the ground, planting the seed….that Christ died for you.” Founding member Michael Jenkins sings lead and plays guitar. Raised in Whitesville West Virginia, he now lives in North Carolina and performed with a number of local Bluegrass gospel groups before David Murph asked him in August of 2012 to start The Gospel Plowboys.
