About

Rich In Tradition is a bluegrass band founded in 2006 by banjo player Jay Adams and mandolin player and singer Greg Jones. Adams grew up in Spray, NC, now Eden, learning from the pioneers of the music such as Flatt & Scruggs, Bill Monroe and Reno & Smiley, and has written gospel songs that others recorded. Jones comes from Mt. Airy, NC, a haven for bluegrass and old time music, and learned mandolin from players ranging from Bill Monroe to Ricky Skaggs and David Grisman; he once sang baritone with Johnny Cash for a night. The guitar player and singer Ronnie Edwards, who joined in 2012, grew up on the fiddlers convention circuit with Tony Rice as his main influence and spent years as a Nashville songwriter, writing for Moe Bandy and co-writing a single recorded by Connie Smith and Pam Perry. Jake Harbour plays bass.
