About
Marley Carroll is an Asheville-based turntablist whose finely detailed, atmospheric dance music draws comparisons to Four Tet and Caribou, and whom fellow artists cite as an influence. Live, he reworks his records on the fly with sampling, drum pads, live looping and unconventional turntable technique, and he has played alongside Floating Points, Bonobo and DJ Shadow as well as at Coachella and LiB. His 2022 EP Voices, shaped by missing raves during lockdown, drew support from BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6, KCRW and KEXP. In September 2024 he released One More Year, three UKG tracks, on Anjunadeep's Explorations imprint. Later that month Hurricane Helene hit Asheville, and that reflective period fed his EP Southern Research Station, named for a research outpost near his home studio, which turns back to the natural world for inspiration.
