About
Based in Asheville, North Carolina, David Gwaltney works across film, music, photography and new media as both artist and creative technologist. He calls his practice "Creative Gumbo." He directs and shoots films, makes electronic and experimental music under the name Kivik, takes photos of people and places, and builds interactive, generative pieces in his Lab. Originally from Bristol, Tennessee/Virginia, he has played music since childhood, studied Film & TV Production at NYU Tisch and earned an MA in New Media from ETSU. His work also draws on digital marketing, Python, automation and AI. Across all of it he asks how technology can make creative work feel more alive.
