About

Theatre In The Park is best known for Ira David Wood III's version of A Christmas Carol, a musical comedy based on the Dickens story and staged every year since 1974. More than one million people have seen it, it often sells out, and it has toured England and France. Honors include a spot among the "Top 20 Events in the Southeast," the Metro Ovation Award and proclamations from Raleigh, North Carolina and cities in France and England; it was also the first show staged at DPAC. The 2026 run plays December 16- 20 at the Durham Performing Arts Center. The company also holds auditions and welcomes volunteers and members.
