About
The Visual Art Exchange (VAE) is an artist-led nonprofit in Raleigh, founded by a small group of artists in 1981. It supports artists at every level through professional growth, exhibitions and neighborhood events, and it offers paid opportunities and encourages collaboration. VAE produces, funds and shows socially engaged art made with the community, sharing its staff, space, standing, artist network and funds in an open way to back community-led creative solutions. It hopes Raleigh can show the nation how artists can lead lively communities, and it stays focused on building a creative community that is vibrant, fair and well supported.
