Vince Junior Band has played around the Asheville area since 2014, mixing blues, funk and soul in music meant for winding down, dancing or having a drink. Guitarist and singer Vince Junior loves the Muscle Shoals mix of bass, drums, Fender guitar and Fender Rhodes and tries to make it the band's own. A set can include a surf take on a Jimi Hendrix song alongside originals about a 69 Camaro or one that could serve as a pasta recipe, since Junior likes writing about subjects others skip, such as parenting, aging and chasing a dream on little fuel. His voice has been likened to Greg Brown and Tom Waits, he has played on stages with Paul Geremia and Robert Cray, and he was a Cape Fear Blues Competition finalist. Noah Pitts plays keyboards, and the band works on tight, carefully arranged songs rather than three-chord jams.
