About

Women of the Shoah gathers communities around North Carolina's Holocaust memorial, titled She Wouldn't Take Off Her Boots, which honors the resilience and humanity of the women and children the Holocaust affected. Its public art projects teach about the Holocaust, antisemitism, racism and genocide. Visitors can take a self-guided tour at the monument using QR codes, learning about the photographed mass murder that inspired the work and hearing stories from people with ties to Greensboro who survived the Holocaust. Teachers across North Carolina use the monument alongside state curriculum resources, and the group provides curricula for middle and high schools. Artist Victoria Milstein trained in New York City and Jerusalem and works in socially engaged public art, sculpture and painting.
