About Huntersville

Huntersville was first called Craighead and was later renamed for Robert Boston Hunter, who farmed cotton and owned land locally. It was incorporated in 1873. The town lies in northern Mecklenburg County with Charlotte to the south and Cornelius to the north, and its northwestern edge follows the shore of Lake Norman. Mountain Island Lake runs along its southwest border, and the two lakes attract boaters and water-skiers. Joe Gibbs Racing is based here. Museums and historic sites include Discovery Place Kids-Huntersville, the EnergyExplorium at McGuire Nuclear Station, Holly Bend, the Hugh Torance House & Store and Latta Place. The Carolina Renaissance Festival runs on weekends in October and November. Source: Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)

Teacher’s remarks

The Ray Arts Index gives extra weight to local government support and arts education, because public investment in the arts, and in teaching it, is how creative communities grow.
