About
ClayMakers is a nonprofit community ceramics studio that has served Durham since 2000, offering an inclusive place to explore clay. It runs more than 100 weekly classes and workshops each year for adults at every level in handbuilding, wheel-throwing, sculpture, decorating and firing, along with workshops led by nationally known artists. Studio assistantships help community members grow as artists while learning studio management. Private studios give independent ceramic artists room to work, and a supply store and firing services serve artists, students and schools. Its mission is to build a thriving ceramics community through education, resources and support.
