About

The Mitford Museum in Hudson, North Carolina, is a gathering place for fans of Jan Karon's Mitford series and a home for storytelling of all kinds. Throughout the year it hosts workshops, art exhibitions, readings and performances for creators of all ages. Its annual GetLit! literary weekend brings bestselling authors for readings, workshops and book signings, plus a writing contest for youth and adults. Each September the Candace Freeland Photography of Merit Award invites young photographers to enter themed photos. With StoryCorps, the museum built an Oral History Library whose recordings are preserved in the StoryCorps Archive and at the American Folklife Center. It also runs a Summer Reading Program and promotes North Carolina's literary heritage.
