About this event

The Nasher Museum screens Nothing but a Man (1964), directed by Michael Roemer, followed by a discussion. The guests are Mark Anthony Neal, who holds the James B. Duke professorship in African & African American Studies, plus Ajamu Dillahunt-Holloway, assistant professor at NC State University who teaches African American history and public history. The film was among the first narrative features to look seriously at the lives of Black men and fathers. At the Venice Film Festival it won the San Giorgio Prize, and the Library of Congress added it to the National Film Registry in 1993.
