No Rain, No Flowers, a solo show of ceramic work by Taylor Robenalt, runs October 10 through December 31 at Grovewood Gallery. The artist attends an opening reception from 2–5 p.m. on Saturday, October 10. The work came out of a time of major change in her life and deals with transformation, resilience and the beauty that can come out of hard seasons. Robenalt, a ceramic sculptor based in Sarasota, Florida, makes narrative figurative pieces. Here flowers stand for survival, rain clouds become agents of change, animals act as witnesses, and calm female figures carry a hard-won strength. As a single mother, she reflects on independence, care, grief and hope. She teaches full time at Ringling College of Art and Design and co-founded Ceramic Sculpture Culture.
