About
UNCG Auditorium is the big proscenium hall on the UNC Greensboro campus, at 408 Tate Street. It opened in 1927 as Aycock Auditorium and got its current name in 2016. A renovation completed in 2010 trimmed the seat count to about 1,600 in return for better sound, roomier rows and a double-lift orchestra pit. Since then it has been home base for the University Concert and Lecture Series, whose season brings touring jazz names such as John Scofield and Samara Joy, the U.S. Marine Band and dance troupes like Rennie Harris Puremovement. School of Music ensembles, including the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band and the yearly Collage showcase, fill much of the rest of the calendar, alongside lectures and theatrical productions. Tickets go through the UNCG box offices and ETix; see the CVPA events calendar for upcoming shows.
