About
The Carl Sandburg Music Festival is a free annual festival at Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site, backed by the Arts Council of Henderson County and by the Friends group of Carl Sandburg at Connemara. Live music fills the park’s amphitheater and barnyard. The festival draws attention to sides of Sandburg beyond his Pulitzer Prize winning poetry: his work collecting music, his writing for children, and his family’s fondness for square dancing. The festival has offered storytelling inspired by his Rootabaga Stories, Appalachian old-time music, blues, and called square dances. Guests may carry in their own food, lawn chairs and non-alcoholic drinks.
