About
The Charlie Poole Music Festival is a three-day, free community celebration of old-time, bluegrass and Americana music held each June at Rockingham Community College in Wentworth. It honors Charlie Poole and celebrates the region's music heritage and traditions. During the day, visitors can browse handmade craft and artisan vendors, join or listen to jam sessions, and enter or watch music competitions at no cost. Workshops and history programs are also part of the weekend. The one ticketed part is an evening concert series in the college auditorium. Free boondock-style camping near the campus Historic Village lets festivalgoers stay for late-night picking.
