About

Fayetteville State University's music program offers a Bachelor of Arts in Music with two concentrations, music education and music, giving students flexibility within a liberal arts setting. The program aims to prepare musicians who can contribute to the profession, with training in performance skills, music theory and aural skills, and the history and styles of both Western and non-Western music. Students also study teaching strategies and assessment, and the program emphasizes performance, workshops and real-world experience beyond traditional classroom training. FSU is a historically Black university founded in 1867 to educate Black children, now part of the University of North Carolina system, and it is known for its strength in teacher education.
