About
NC State's Department of Performing Arts and Technology in Raleigh offers music, dance, music technology and arts entrepreneurship to students of any major. Students can join ensembles for academic credit, and the symphonic band doesn't require an audition. The department presents dozens of public dance and music concerts each year, plus a piano series and a spring lunchtime talk series about dance. Community members can audition for the Raleigh Civic Symphony and Raleigh Civic Chamber Orchestra, which mix students and local musicians. High school students can attend Day of Dance and High School Band Day, plus summer camps in electronic music and drum major leadership. Price Music Center holds practice rooms for students, and the department rents instruments to ensemble members.
