About
CANCEL is a Wilmington, NC rock band that came together in 2021. It began as a surf rock and punk outlet for spare time, with no plans to be anything serious, and has since grown into one of the city's more distinctive rock acts. The songs tend to wander off in a slightly new stylistic direction while keeping the dynamics of contemporary rock in the vein of Pixies, Weezer and Dinosaur Jr. In about a year the band had released three songs, including the double single “Numbskull/ Fake It,” and was finding its place in the local scene. The band records for Suck Rock Records, the label Max Agee founded. The lineup is Cameron Schaeffer on bass and vocals, Agee on guitar, synth and vocals, Dawson Newman on guitar and vocals, and Luke Vanderwoude on drums.
