About
The North Carolina State Annual Singing Convention is a long-running singing gathering held each June at the Grove in Benson, now past its 100th year. The two-day event opens on Friday evening with church and community choirs, such as the JOCO Community Choir and the Wilmington Celebration Choir, and the most recent convention closed that night with a patriotic program. Saturday brings a full day of soloists and groups under a big tent and the shade trees, ending with headline acts. Recent headliners included Wesley Pritchard & Friends and Jeff & Sheri Easter, and the next convention's host group is the quartet Ernie Haase & Signature Sound. The organizers also hold a winter matinee concert with lunch in Selma.
