About
Doomsday Profit is a sludge metal band from Durham, N.C., whose sound is gritty, groovy and splashed with psychedelia. The band's self-titled album, out Sept. 19, 2025, spans nine songs and widens its dystopian sludge with traces of heavy doom, death 'n' roll grooves, punk rock and black metal, all captured in raw recordings. The band still aims its anger at those in power, yet it now also looks inward and tempers that fury with a melancholy edge. Its live sets have played Hopscotch Music Festival and Seismic Summer, and it has shared bills as support for Black Tusk, Thou, REZN, The Obsessed and Restless Spirit. JJ Koczan of The Obelisk sees in it less a hopeful future than a stark look at present-day realities.
