About
The Millennium Center is a downtown Winston-Salem event venue housed in a Beaux-Arts building that opened in 1906 as the U.S. Post Office for the city and later held federal courtrooms, FBI offices and U.S. Marshals. Marble walls, the original brass postal boxes and detailed architecture survive from that era. After the government left in the early 1990s, local entrepreneur Greg Carlyle bought the building in 1994 and reworked it. The center now covers 72,000 square feet on three floors, with a ballroom, a preserved courtroom, the Grand Lobby and smaller lounges on the lower level. It has appeared in major films. The center offers in-house catering, bar service and planning help, and its event list runs to thousands of weddings plus galas, corporate events and nonprofit fundraisers.
