Deeper Shade of Blue
- Region
About
Deeper Shade of Blue is a bluegrass band from just east of Charlotte, North Carolina. Troy Pope plays guitar and sings lead, Scott Burgess plays bass and sings, Chad Day plays banjo and Milom Williams II plays mandolin and sings. Together for 21 years, the band has self-produced six albums and is known for close harmony singing, lively playing and an energetic show, which keeps festivals booking it year after year. Pope grew up singing gospel in church, which shapes the band's arrangements. Williams, from Spartanburg, SC, has played mandolin with Kevin Richardson and Cuttin' Edge, the Skip Cherryholmes Quintet, Nu-Blu and The King James Boys. Burgess grew up in a bluegrass family, played with Right Track and KRACE, and joined in April 2015. He also writes songs, some of which have aired on Sirius XM Bluegrass Junction.
