About
Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge is a sanctuary where rescued cows, sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, ducks and geese live out their lives on 45 acres of pasture and woods. These animals arrived after abuse, neglect or abandonment, among them hens rescued in 2023 from the Kaporos ritual in New York. The Refuge teaches the public about animal agriculture through guided sanctuary tours and other programs, and it supports people moving toward a vegan lifestyle with cooking classes, bake sales and food samplings. It plans to add homes for rescued pigs as it grows.
