Alien Music Club is a musical collective led by guitarist Jonathan Pearlman (JP), a longtime player in the Western North Carolina music scene. JP has recorded more than a dozen albums of his own music, and the band's original material leans toward jazz, blues and fusion. He has also produced stage shows such as "The Doors: Unhinged", "AMC Rock n' Soul Revue", "Tom Waits: The Early Years" and "Leonard Cohen: The Deep Cuts". His guitar heroes include John Scofield, Jeff Beck and Wes Montgomery. He is shy away from the stage but plays openly and from the heart on it. The current lineup includes keyboard player Chuck Lichtenberger, trained formally in jazz and theory, and moves easily between metal, rock and pop; Jaron Pearlman, an Asheville drummer who has toured internationally with The Indigo Girls; and bassist Ryan Kijanka, who has played funk, jazz, reggae, classical, tango, latin and gypsy jazz and also plays in Sirius.B and Upland Drive.
