About

Keiran Campbell is a cellist from Greensboro, North Carolina, where he began lessons as a child. He studied at length with Leonid Zilper, once solo cellist of the Bolshoi Ballet, then earned both a Bachelors and a Masters from the Juilliard School. At Prussia Cove in Cornwall, England, he also worked with Ralph Kirshbaum and Steven Isserlis. Now based in Toronto, he is a core member of Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra. He has played with Les Violons du Roy, The English Concert, The Toronto Symphony, Philharmonia Baroque and The Boston Early Music Festival Orchestra, and toured Europe under Jordi Savall with Le Concert Des Nations playing Beethoven Symphonies. Summer appearances include the BBC Proms, Teatro Nuovo, The Carmel Bach Festival and the Salzburger Festspiele. The Toronto Star called him "an active, sparkling participant in the musical conversation". He teaches at Chamber Music Collective and has given masterclasses at UNC Chapel Hill and Duke University, among others. He plays a cello by Timothy Johnson and an 18th century northern Italian instrument, and he studies instrument making with Johnson.
