Queen Bee and The Honeylovers

About
Queen Bee and the Honeylovers draw on 1930's and 40's jazz and blues, writing originals in those styles with lyrics on modern themes. Their first album, 'Asheville', honored the history of their hometown and placed #41 in WNCW's listener poll of Best Albums of 2019; it also earned them spots on PBS Woodsongs and The State of Things with Frank Stasio. At the 2019 Music Video Asheville Awards, their "Beacham's Curve" video took Best Soundtrack. The band treats early jazz as a living language, using old American forms to explore place, identity and memory, and their shows mix vintage swing, original stories and lively audience connection. A live album comes from 2 shows the band played at the Isis Theater in fall 2022, and the band tied for first with Firecracker Jazz Band in the Mountain Xpress Best of WNC poll.
