About

Tina and Her Pony is an indie Appalachian folk band that started in Asheville, North Carolina, USA in 2010, then spent two years in Taos, New Mexico, where it became a favorite of the artist colony. Its latest full-length album, Marigolds (2023), explores change, death and rebirth, following Champion (2017) and a 2012 debut. Touring across Canada, the United States, the UK, Europe and Central America has shaped the band's sound: sweet vocal harmonies over cello, pedal steel, tenor banjo and acoustic guitar, while Marigolds adds touches of pop and soul through electric bass, jazz organ and synth. Tina Collins and Quetzal Jordan founded it as a duo; today the band centers on the songwriting of Collins, a classically trained musician who wrote her debut, Journey Onward (2009), while thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail. Her songs bring complex harmony and arrangement to the American folk tradition, inspired by artists like Gillian Welch, Sarah Jarosz and Watchhouse.
