About Zebulon

Zebulon is the easternmost town in Wake County and part of the Research Triangle region. The Zebulon Company laid out lots in 1906 after a railroad was routed through the Whitley and Horton family farms, and the town was officially recognized in 1907. It was named for Zebulon Baird Vance, North Carolina’s governor during the Civil War. In 1997 it annexed neighboring Wakefield, and in 2022 it was ranked the state’s second fastest growing town. The Wakelon School and the Zebulon Historic District are on the National Register. Local businesses include Olde Raleigh Distillery and MacLellan Bagpipes, which makes, sells and teaches bagpipes. Little River Dam and Park offers a waterfall, picnic areas and hiking trails. Source: Wikipedia (opens in a new tab)

Teacher’s remarks

The Ray Arts Index gives extra weight to local government support and arts education, because public investment in the arts, and in teaching it, is how creative communities grow.
