John C. Campbell Folk School Fall Festival

Brasstown, NC

About

The Fall Festival at John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown has been held since 1974 on the first full weekend of October. Over two days, visitors explore the school's 270-acre campus, with 230-plus craft vendors, 25-plus food vendors and more than 50 makers showing both traditional and contemporary crafts. Folk, roots and traditional music and dance fill two stages, with dozens of local and regional performers. The festival draws more than 10,000 people from across the southern Appalachians, and children under 12 get in free. The host school was founded on the Danish folk school model and has offered hands-on learning for almost 100 years. Today it runs hundreds of weeklong and weekend classes in craft, music, dance, cooking and writing.
