Fayetteville Symphony Youth Orchestra Summer Band Camp
- Region
About
Run by the Fayetteville Symphony Youth Orchestra, this Summer Band Camp is a week-long day camp held at Arts XL in Fayetteville for wind, brass and percussion students aged 13 and up with at least a year of playing experience. Campers get individual and group coaching from the orchestra's directors and professional players, play in small ensembles, and join discussions on fundamentals, intonation, technique, repertoire and auditions, including preparation for all-county and all-district tryouts. Masterclasses and lectures round out the week, which ends with a concert on the last day. The camp is part of the youth programs of the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra, a professional regional orchestra founded in 1956 whose mission centers on education as well as performance. A companion strings camp runs the following week.
