About

The music program at Johnson C. Smith University prepares students for careers in a music industry transformed by digital recording, music technology and online sales. The program focuses on creative thinking and current music technology, and it readies graduates either to start working or to continue to graduate study. Internships are a key part of the experience: students have interned with their professors and with The Neptunes, the production company led by Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, gaining hands-on experience in studio setup, merchandising and management. Faculty work closely with each student, recognizing that some arrive with years of performing experience while others bring little more than a passion for music.
