About
Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory offers a Bachelor of Arts in Music that gives students a broad grounding in music history and theory and in music appreciation. The curriculum includes harmony, aural skills, orchestration and conducting, and students take weekly private lessons with professional faculty who serve as mentors. Students can add intensive minors in music education, which prepares them for a Master of Arts in Teaching and teacher licensure, or in music performance. Music life at the university includes the A Cappella Choir, its flagship auditioned choral group that tours nationally and abroad, a brass ensemble that plays in recitals, churches and hymn festivals, and the marching band. Scholarships are available.
