About
Notasium's Guitar Camp is a week-long summer camp in Durham for kids who want to start playing guitar, no experience needed. Campers learn to read and copy simple rhythms and pick up string names and the layout of the fretboard, so they can start playing songs quickly. Through fun exercises and book materials, they work on simple melodies, popular guitar riffs and chords. It's run by Notasium, a Durham play space, which also teaches drum lessons, runs 10- and 12-week group music classes for ages from 2 and under up, and rents violins month to month. Notasium's other summer camps include piano, ukulele and a music-and-play camp for younger children.
