UNC School of the Arts- Summer Pipe Organ Intensive
- Region
About
The UNCSA Summer Pipe Organ programs are five-day summer sessions at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem for musicians ages 13 to 18. The program has two tracks. The Pipe Organ Encounter introduces intermediate pianists to the pipe organ, while the Pipe Organ Intensive helps young organists with at least a year of study deepen their skills and repertoire. Participants receive individual and group instruction in organ technique, service playing and improvisation, along with an overview of organ literature, history, construction and design. The week includes taking part in ecumenical worship to experience the role of a church musician, daily evening concerts, and time with peers who share the interest. Admission is by recorded audition.
