About
Matt Schnable and Mark Capon, its co-owners, started Harvest Records, an award-winning independent shop on Haywood Road in West Asheville, in the summer of 2004. Beyond retail, it serves as a center for creative culture in Western North Carolina. Its staff help shoppers dig through a large stock of new and used vinyl, cassettes, CDs, books, DVDs, stereo equipment and vinyl accessories. The store hosts monthly art openings, takes part in Record Store Day each year, and holds occasional in-store performances and listening parties. Until 2013 Harvest promoted hundreds of local concerts around Asheville and WNC, and it created its own festival, Transfigurations, for its 5-year and 10-year anniversaries, along with a boutique record label for limited-edition pressings.
