About
Midwood Guitar Studio opened in Plaza Midwood, Charlotte, on November 16, 2016, in a historic building its founders renovated over several months. Douglas and Dawn Armstrong, musicians inspired by legendary blues rock guitarists, started the shop because Charlotte had lacked independent guitar shops since the late 1990s. It sells boutique guitars, amps, pedals and accessories and does guitar repairs, with a degreed luthier on staff. The shop won the "NAMM Best Store Design Award" in 2018 and is the only independent dealer around Charlotte for brands such as Collings, Gibson, Dr. Z, Martin, PRS and Two-Rock. It recently added a dedicated display for guitar pedals.
