About
Carolina Brewery is a brewpub rooted in Carolina life. The story begins with Robert Poitras, a college sophomore from the Outer Banks who traveled through Europe one summer and became devoted to traditional, artisanal brewing before craft beer had caught on. In 1995, just after finishing his business degree at UNC-Chapel Hill, he set out to start his own brewery. Today Carolina Brewery makes classic styles such as Costero Lager, Sky Blue Kölsch, Fin Chaser Pale Ale and Copperline Amber, sold in six-packs in stores. At the brewpub, guests can order Southern food and sample the beer. The company also partners with nonprofits and brands that work to enjoy and preserve the Carolinas.
