About
The Independent Picture House is a nonprofit community arthouse cinema in Charlotte, run by the Charlotte Film Society, which was founded in 1982 to give moviegoers more choice. The Society opened the theater in June 2022, and it now operates 365 days a year, screening independent, foreign and arthouse films. The aim is to build shared experiences through cinema that celebrate what people have in common, and to educate and engage audiences through film. The same nonprofit runs the annual Charlotte Film Festival, which brings innovative independent cinema to Charlotte under the motto "DISCOVER DIFFERENT." Memberships support the cinema and come with benefits.
