The Upper Room is a Christian coffeehouse and music venue in downtown Statesville, opened on March 7, 1998 by a group of pastors from several denominations who wanted a place for teens and young adults. The nonprofit ministry has owned its current building for 19 years. Acoustic acts usually play the street level, with heavier bands downstairs, and between shows there are pool tables, games, snacks and old couches. It also hosts afterschool tutoring, women's events and Special Needs Socials.
