Guilford Native American Art Gallery

200 North Davie Street NC

About

This gallery is part of the Guilford Native American Association, which a small group of Indian parents founded as a nonprofit in September of 1975, when the Indian people of Guilford County were called the "invisible community" and had few opportunities. With help from volunteers, local Lutheran churches and state and federal agencies, the association has grown from a focus on education and advocacy into a multi-purpose urban Indian center serving over 6,000 Indian people across the Piedmont Triad. Its mission is to offer cultural, educational, social and economic opportunities that support self-sufficiency, self-determination and a stronger Native American cultural heritage. The gallery, in the Greensboro Cultural Center, offers gifts by Native American artists from many nations, including Cherokee, Lumbee, Navajo, Catawba, Haliwa-Saponi, Coharie, Acoma, Jemez and Ute.
