About
In Brevard, the "Veterans History Museum of the Carolinas" works to honor the nation's veterans, teaches the public about American military history and the service of its men and women, and preserves rare historic artifacts. It began with the personal collection of curator Emmett Casciato, shown on Memorial Day 2016, and grew through exhibits at the historic Aethelwold Hotel and the Transylvania Heritage Museum. As local veterans took notice, the county gave the museum a temporary home in the Annex Building beside the historic Transylvania County Courthouse. Its exhibits include a WWII Pacific Theater room, and the museum holds events and ceremonies that honor local veterans and invite them to share their stories.
