About
The National Humanities Center promotes research, teaching and public interest in the humanities, using fellowships, education initiatives and public programs. Since opening in 1978 it has supported scholars whose work spans more than 40 humanities fields and has influenced research, teaching and even practices outside academia. Beyond residential fellowships, it links scholars with teachers and classrooms across the country through webinars, online resources and other education programs, and its public programs present the humanities as vital to democratic culture and lifelong learning. Recent initiatives include curriculum work on navigating the digital world and the ethics of artificial intelligence.
