Deep River Brewing Company in downtown Clayton was started by Paul and Lynn Auclair and runs a 30bbl, 4 vessel brewhouse. It bills itself as “Johnston County’s First Legal Brewery,” having brewed the county's first legal beer on February 28, 2013, and the brewery opened on April 6, 2013 with a sold out grand opening party of 250 people. Deep River aims to brew a broad range of beers with top-quality ingredients.
