About
Homeplace opened in 2017 in Yancey County, out of a love of craft beer and a wish to link a changing world with respect for the region's past. Its owners draw on the mountain heritage of farming and homesteading, thrifty ingenuity and grit, and try to carry that spirit into everything they do to tell the story of their corner of Appalachia. The owners describe it as a blend of brewery, music venue and nostalgia project, as well as a wager on where their small mountain town is headed. Guests gather over beer from the 5 barrel brewhouse, hear music on the outdoor stage and eat from Hog Hollow Wood-Fired Pizza, the in-house restaurant. Homeplace started in a closet-sized space near the Burnsville Town Square and has grown into a large brewpub and event space with many outdoor events on its calendar.
