Milltown Get Down is a music festival in downtown Elkin that carries on Reevestock Music Festival. For over ten years, Reevestock gathered people at a wooded amphitheater on private land, after Sam Tayloe, who fronts Time Sawyer as lead singer, started it on his uncle’s property to celebrate live music and support the town. The new name honors Elkin’s past as a textile town, once home to Chatham Manufacturing. The festival now sets up near the Yadkin Valley Heritage & Trails Center with two stages, the River Stage and the Creek Stage, plus a kids area, food trucks and local craft beer. A share of the proceeds goes to local music and arts programs in Elkin, helping pay for instruments, classes and performances for all ages.
