    About

The Associated Artists of Southport run the Franklin Square Gallery, a cooperative gallery in historic Southport, North Carolina, set in a historic building beneath live oak trees just behind Franklin Square Park. The gallery shows over one hundred member artists from southeastern North and South Carolina, with paintings in many mediums, photography, prints, a miniature paintings section, and pottery, ceramic and glass work, both functional and decorative, along with jewelry and gifts. The artists run the gallery themselves, so the person at the door may well have work on the walls. The group also hosts shows for community organizations and an annual High School Show, offers figure-drawing and watercolor classes, and joins First Friday Gallery Walks. In 2026 the gallery took the Maggie Award for Favorite Art Gallery from Southport Magazine.
