About
Chamber Music Wilmington, formerly the Chamber Music Society of Wilmington, presents classical chamber concerts with world-class musicians for audiences in the Cape Fear Region. Pianist Barbara McKenzie and oboist Petrea Warneck founded it in 1995, and it has run consecutive concert seasons since. The main series plays on Sunday afternoons at Beckwith Recital Hall on the UNC Wilmington campus. Since 2020 the artistic director has been clarinetist Oskar Espina Ruiz, who also teaches clarinet as an associate professor at the UNC School of the Arts. The organization also brings programs and outreach to other settings with partners including WHQR Public Media, St. James Parish, Brooklyn Arts Music Academy and the arts education department of New Hanover County Schools.
