About
Deutsche Schule Charlotte is a German school founded in September 1974 to help children of German-speaking families in the Charlotte area keep up their language. It began with 30 students meeting on Saturday mornings at Queens College and later added classes for children who had one German-speaking parent or other ties to the language, and for older beginners. It now enrolls more than 200 students from age 2 through grade 12 and also offers beginner courses for adults who are not native speakers. The school aims to give every learner a friendly, authentic German-speaking setting, and it helps students deepen their knowledge of German culture, customs and traditions.
