About
The Trail of Faith tells the story of the Waldensians, a people devoted to scripture who were persecuted, exiled and martyred, yet whose faith carried them out of the Alpine Valleys of Italy all the way to the North Carolina foothills. Each exhibit traces part of their long journey to find a future for their families and freedom of religion, from the apostles who planted Christianity in the Waldensian Valleys to figures such as Claudius, Bishop of Turin, and Peter Waldo, the merchant of Lyon whose followers became known as the Poor of Lyon. Visitors learn how the Waldenses worshiped in secret, memorized Scripture in case their Bibles were burned, and survived again and again when rulers believed them wiped out.
